Target Information
The TGIF2 protein is a DNA-binding homeobox protein and transcriptional repressor that recruits histone deacetylases to TGF beta-responsive genes. It is amplified and over-expressed in some ovarian cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, and a related pseudogene exists on chromosome 1. Read-through transcription occurs between this gene and the neighboring downstream C20orf24 gene.
