Target Information

RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein.
p70 S6 kinase is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays essential roles in:

• Growth factor–regulated cell proliferation
• Cell motility pathways (e.g., metastasis)
• Immune response and tissue repair

It acts downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, targeting the S6 ribosomal protein to enhance protein synthesis and cell proliferation.
Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase are observed in some breast cancer cell lines.
