Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody has specificity for H7N7 (A/Netherlands/219/03) HA.
Target Information
Influenza viruses consist of three types (Influenza A, B, and C), which make up three of the five genera in the Orthomyxoviridae family. Commonly known as the flu, influenza strains can affect both birds and mammals.
Influenza strains form roughly spherical particles with viral envelopes containing two main glycoproteins — hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) — surrounding the central core of viral RNA genome and associated proteins that package and protect the RNA.
The influenza virus genome is segmented, with seven to eight fragments of negative-sense RNA, each encoding different viral proteins. Influenza spreads seasonally, causing 3–5 million cases of severe illness annually and 250,000–500,000 deaths, rising to millions during pandemic years.
