Target Information
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are involved in various cellular processes such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Some members are associated with embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth/division. DDX31 is a member of this family, though its specific function has not yet been determined. Alternative splicing of this gene generates two transcript variants.
