Aquaporin-8 is a water channel protein encoded by the AQP8 gene in humans.
- Member of the aquaporin family of small integral membrane proteins related to MIP (AQP0).
- Expressed primarily in pancreas and colon, not in other tissues.
- Forms a water-specific channel, mercury-sensitive, and not permeable to glycerol or urea.
