This antibody detects endogenous levels of total TMSB4X.

Target Information

Thymosin-beta4 is a small, actin-sequestering protein belonging to the thymosin-beta family. It is found at high concentrations in the spleen, thymus, and peritoneal macrophages, where it plays a key role in cytoskeletal organization. In mammalian tissues, it modulates actin polymerization and depolymerization by forming a 1:1 complex with G-actin, inhibiting its polymerization into F-actin. This process, along with other cytoskeletal proteins, contributes to microfilament structure formation.

Thymosin-beta4 is widely distributed in the brain, lungs, liver, kidneys, testes, and heart, and is also synthesized by non-reticuloendothelial cells such as myoblasts and fibroblasts. It is expressed variably in several hematopoietic and malignant lymphoid cell lines. Beyond actin regulation, thymosin-beta4 influences hormonal secretion, macrophage migration, T-cell differentiation, and hematopoietic stem cell cycle progression.
