Target Information
Rheb encodes a member of the small GTPase superfamily and a lipid-anchored, cell membrane protein with five repeats of the RAS-related GTP-binding region. This protein plays a key role in regulation of growth and cell cycle progression via the insulin/TOR/S6K signaling pathway. It has GTPase activity, alternating between GDP-bound and GTP-bound forms, and requires farnesylation for activity. Three pseudogenes have been mapped—two on chromosome 10 and one on chromosome 22.
