This antibody detects endogenous levels of total ASC protein.
Target Information
ASC (PYCARD) functions as a key mediator in apoptosis and inflammation. It promotes caspase-mediated apoptosis involving caspase-8 and caspase-9, activates the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway, and mediates BAX-dependent apoptosis. It plays a central role in macrophage pyroptosis and inflammasome assembly, recruiting and activating caspase-1 to process proinflammatory cytokines. ASC interacts with pattern recognition receptors (NLRP2, NLRP3, AIM2, IFI16) for inflammasome activation and may regulate NF-κB signaling pathways. Isoforms 2 and 3 modulate inflammasome activity and cytokine maturation. It also participates in dendritic cell maturation and transcriptional activation of cytokines and chemokines.
