Target Information
SLPI (Secretory Leukocyte Protease Inhibitor) is a secreted inhibitor that protects epithelial tissues from serine proteases. It is found in various secretions including seminal plasma, cervical mucus, and bronchial secretions. SLPI has affinity for trypsin, leukocyte elastase, and cathepsin G, contributing to the immune response by protecting epithelial surfaces from endogenous proteolytic enzymes. It is also thought to possess broad-spectrum antibiotic activity.
