Target Information
LIMK1 is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the regulation of actin cytoskeletal changes via phosphorylation of cofilin. It also plays a role in brain development. LIM domains are conserved cysteine-rich structures containing two zinc fingers, typically mediating protein-protein interactions. LIM kinase-1 and LIM kinase-2 form a small subfamily with two N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal kinase domain. LIMK1 may be part of an intracellular signaling pathway and is implicated in brain development. LIMK1 hemizygosity is associated with visuospatial cognitive impairment in Williams syndrome.
