Target Information

PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds platelet-derived growth factors. The PDGFRA D842V mutation is prevalent in epithelial ovarian cancers and associated with acute myelogenous leukemia.
These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The receptor’s ligand determines whether it forms a homodimer or heterodimer (PDGFRA/PDGFRB).
Knockout mouse studies show PDGFRA is critical for kidney development, as heterozygous mice exhibit defective kidney phenotypes.
