TMPRSS2는 serine protease 계열에 속하는 단백질로, type II transmembrane domain, receptor class A domain, scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domain, 그리고 protease domain을 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 다양한 생리적 및 병리적 과정에 관여하며, 안드로겐에 의해 전립선암 세포에서 발현이 증가하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. Protease domain은 자가 절단 후 세포 외로 분비되는 것으로 추정됩니다.
