• Preparation: Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine IL-18BP. Anti-Murine IL-18BP-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Murine IL-18BP matrix.
• Sandwich ELISA: For detection of Murine IL-18BP, use 0.5–2.0 µg/mL antibody concentration (100 µL/well). In conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Murine IL-18BP (500-P153GBt) as a detection antibody, enables detection of ≥0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Murine IL-18BP.
• Western Blot: Use 0.1–0.2 µg/mL antibody concentration. With compatible secondary reagents, detects 1.5–3.0 ng/lane of Recombinant Murine IL-18BP under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Interleukin-18 binding protein (IL-18BP) is a constitutively secreted glycoprotein that acts as a natural antagonist for interleukin-18 (IL-18) by blocking its receptor interaction. This neutralization reduces IFN-γ production by Th1 cells and inhibits CTL activity through enhanced NK cell cytotoxicity.
IL-18BP plays a key role in skin homeostasis and is associated with diseases such as eczema, asthma, and Crohn’s disease. Upregulation by HPV E7-expressing keratinocytes decreases IL-18-induced IFN-γ production and T cell activation. Elevated IL-18 and IL-18BP levels, along with proinflammatory cytokines (IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-8), are linked to chronic inflammation observed in macrophages from Crohn’s disease lesions.
IL-18BP belongs to the immunoglobulin-like receptor class and contains a single Ig domain; some isoforms (b and d) have incomplete domains, reducing binding affinity.
