Target Information
The TUBA8 gene encodes a member of the alpha tubulin protein family. Alpha tubulins, together with beta tubulins, form heterodimers that assemble into microtubules.
Mutations in this gene are associated with polymicrogyria and optic nerve hypoplasia.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
