Target Information
HERC2 is a highly abundant component of the nuclear matrix, potentially serving a non-mitotic structural role and occupying the majority of the nuclear volume. It is required for maintenance and establishment of mitotic spindle poles, functioning as a tether linking bulk microtubules of the spindle to centrosomes. HERC2 may also coordinate the alignment of the mitotic spindle to the cellular polarity axis, a prerequisite for asymmetric cell divisions.
