FGF10 is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family, which possesses broad mitogenic and cell survival activities.
It is involved in various biological processes such as:
- Embryonic development
- Cell growth and morphogenesis
- Tissue repair
- Tumor growth and invasion
FGF10 exhibits mitogenic activity for keratinizing epidermal cells but minimal activity for fibroblasts, similar to FGF7.
Mouse homolog studies suggest FGF10 is essential for embryonic epidermal morphogenesis, brain development, lung morphogenesis, and limb bud initiation.
It is also implicated as a key factor in wound healing.
