Target Information
The PRG2 protein is the predominant constituent of the crystalline core of eosinophil granules. High levels of its proform are found in placenta and pregnancy serum, forming complexes with proteins such as PAPPA, AGT, and C3dg.
It may play roles in antiparasitic defense as a cytotoxin and helminthotoxin, and in immune hypersensitivity reactions. PRG2 is implicated in epithelial cell damage, exfoliation, and bronchospasm associated with allergic diseases.
