Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the STE7 family. It phosphorylates and activates JNK1/2 and p38 MAP kinases, preferentially targeting tyrosine residues of JNKs.
MAP2K4 mediates cellular stress and inflammatory cytokine responses and plays roles in carcinogenesis. Loss-of-function mutations have been associated with lung and pancreatic tumors, while pro-oncogenic activity has also been reported.
