Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as c-Fos, belongs to the Fos transcription factor family encoded by the C-FOS gene on chromosome 14.
c-Fos forms a heterodimer with c-Jun to create the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates genes involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated by multiple stimuli, including growth factors and insulin, at several sites. The best-characterized kinase for phosphorylation at Thr232 is ERK MAPK, which regulates nuclear localization and transcriptional activity of c-Fos.
