Target Information

FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular proto-oncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene on chromosome 14.
c-Fos forms a heterodimer with c-Jun to create the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates genes involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated by various stimuli such as growth factors and insulin at multiple sites. The best-known upstream kinase for phosphorylation at Threonine 232 is ERK MAPK, which controls nuclear localization and transcriptional activity of c-Fos.
