Target Information
EEF2K (eukaryotic elongation factor 2 kinase) is a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase in the calmodulin signaling pathway. Its activity is increased in cancers, including breast cancer. EEF2K regulates protein synthesis by controlling peptide chain elongation through phosphorylation of EEF2, rendering it inactive and reducing the rate of protein synthesis. Activation occurs via upstream kinases such as AMPK or TRPM7.
