Target Information
GMFB (Glia Maturation Factor Beta) is a protein phosphorylated following phorbol ester stimulation and plays a crucial role in the nervous system. It promotes brain cell differentiation, stimulates neural regeneration, and inhibits tumor cell proliferation. Overexpression in astrocytes enhances BDNF production, contributing to neuroprotection. GMF expression increases with exercise and is essential for exercise-induced BDNF production. In thymoma, GMF supports T-cell development through tumor cell expression.
