Target Information
WNT8A, part of the WNT gene family, consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins. These proteins are involved in oncogenesis and various developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis.
Expression studies in the teratocarcinoma cell line NT2 suggest involvement in early neuronal differentiation induced by retinoic acid.
This gene is clustered with WNT3 on chromosome 17q21.
