Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes both membrane-bound and soluble forms of HLA-G (HLA-G1 and HLA-G5).
HLA-G belongs to the MHC Class I molecules (MHC Class Ib; nonclassical) and is expressed on the surface of trophoblast cells.
It will not cross-react with mouse or rat.
Target Information
HLA-G belongs to the HLA class I heavy chain paralogues. This class I molecule is a heterodimer consisting of a heavy chain and a light chain (beta-2 microglobulin). The heavy chain is anchored in the membrane and is approximately 45 kDa.
The HLA-G gene contains 8 exons:
- Exon 1 – leader peptide
- Exons 2 & 3 – alpha1 and alpha2 domains (peptide binding)
- Exon 4 – alpha3 domain
- Exon 5 – transmembrane region
- Exon 6 – cytoplasmic tail
HLA and MHC antibodies play a significant role in immunopeptidomics, facilitating the identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
