This antibody has specificity for Mouse CD146/MCAM.
Target Information
CD146 (MCAM) is an integral membrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed at cell-cell junctions in endothelial cells and various other normal and malignant cell types. CD146 functions as a calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule and may also participate in signal transduction by recruiting Fyn kinase, leading to tyrosine phosphorylation of intracellular proteins involved in actin cytoskeleton assembly.
It plays roles in cell adhesion, endothelial cohesion, and possibly in melanoma metastasis and neural crest cell development. CD146 also acts as a surface receptor triggering tyrosine phosphorylation of FYN and PTK2, and transient increases in intracellular calcium concentration.
