Product Specific Information
PA1-7219 detects the HIV gp41 protein and does not cross-react with human T or B cells.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
The immunogen is recombinant (P. pastoris) ectodomain of gp41 (glycosylated).
Target Information
Gp41 is a glycoprotein that, together with gp120, plays a critical role in HIV cell entry.
Gp41 is located within the viral envelope, and when gp120 binds to the CD4 receptor, conformational changes expose gp41 to facilitate membrane fusion.
