Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids within the secretory pathway, consisting of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are essential for reorganization during mitosis.
This gene encodes one of the golgins, proteins localized to the Golgi apparatus, and plays a role in Rab6-regulated membrane-tethering events.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
