Gene Map Locus: 17q23.3
Members of the STE-20 like kinase family stimulate MAPK pathways by activating MAPKKK. STRAD is a pseudokinase with a STE-20-like domain lacking catalytic residues. It binds LKB1, regulating its tumor suppressor activity and subcellular localization. STRAD-LKB1 interaction promotes phosphorylation of STRAD and enhances LKB1 autophosphorylation.
