This antibody detects endogenous levels of PPAR alpha only when phosphorylated at Ser21.
Target Information
Peroxisome proliferators are non-genotoxic carcinogens that exert their effects via nuclear hormone receptors called peroxisome proliferator activated receptors (PPARs). These ligand-dependent intracellular proteins stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to DNA sequences after activation. PPARs are activated by compounds such as clofibric acid, nafenopin, WY-14,643, and certain fatty acids. They can induce transcription of acyl CoA oxidase and cytochrome P450 (CYP450) A6 through specific response elements. PPARs also heterodimerize with retinoid X receptor (RXR) alpha.
