Product Specific Information
- Antibody is stable for 24 months.
- Positive Control: HeLa or A549 cells; human esophagus, placenta, or prostate.
- Cellular Localization: Nucleus, cytoplasm, cell projection (cilium), basolateral cell membrane.
- Found in the cilium, nucleus, and basolateral cell membrane of ciliated cells in the tracheal endothelium.
Specificity Comments
The ANXA1 gene belongs to the annexin family and contains four annexin repeats. Each pair of repeats may form one binding site for calcium and a phospholipid. ANXA1 promotes membrane fusion and is involved in exocytosis.
The gene is upregulated in hairy cell leukemia (HCL), and its protein expression is specific for HCL. Detection of ANXA1 provides a simple, highly sensitive, and specific assay for diagnosing HCL.
Annexin A1 also exhibits protective effects against DNA damage induced by heat in breast cancer cells, suggesting roles in tumor suppression, protection, and treatment resistance.
Target Information
Annexin I belongs to a family of Ca²⁺-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins located on the cytosolic face of the plasma membrane.
It has a molecular mass of 40 kDa and phospholipase A2 inhibitory activity.
Since phospholipase A2 is required for biosynthesis of inflammatory mediators (prostaglandins and leukotrienes), Annexin I may have anti-inflammatory activity.
