MA1-23332 detects PCNA interdomain connector loop in Human samples.
Target Information
PCNA (Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen) is essential for DNA replication and is involved in DNA excision and mismatch repair pathways.
It binds to CDK inhibitor p21, structure-specific endonucleases Fen1 and XPG, and DNA cytosine 5-methyltransferase (MCMT).
PCNA serves as a marker of proliferative cells and helps assess tumor proliferation status.
It is localized in the nucleus, functions as a cofactor of DNA polymerase delta, and forms a homotrimer to enhance leading strand synthesis during DNA replication.
Upon DNA damage, PCNA is ubiquitinated and participates in the RAD6-dependent DNA repair pathway.
Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified, and pseudogenes exist on chromosome 4 and the X chromosome.
