Target Information
CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on intracellular lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages, and to a lesser extent by dendritic cells and peripheral blood granulocytes. It may play roles in phagocytic activities, lysosomal metabolism, and cell-pathogen interactions.
CD68 expression is noted in interdigitating reticulum cells, certain histiocytic lymphomas, AML, and granulocytic sarcoma. Elevated CD68 levels have been observed in CD34+ cells across various human malignancies, including Acute Myeloid Leukemia studies.
