Target Information
TAS2R40 is a gustducin-coupled receptor involved in the perception of bitter compounds in the oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract.
It signals through PLCB2 and TRPM5, and is expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue, specifically in gustducin-positive cells.
Several bitter taste receptors can be expressed in a single taste receptor cell.
