Target Information
The Teashirt zinc finger homeobox (TSHZ) family comprises evolutionarily conserved transcription factors.
In Drosophila, they function in body patterning, while in vertebrates their roles are less defined.
In mice, three TSHZ proteins show distinct expression patterns in the developing and adult brain, suggesting roles in regional identity and cell type specification.
TSHZ3 and TSHZ1 interact with FE65, an adapter protein that binds amyloid precursor protein (APP) in neurons.
Together with SET and histone deacetylases, they form a gene-silencing complex targeting caspase-4.
Recent studies indicate potential involvement of this protein family in carcinogenesis.
