Target Information

H2AX is a variant of the H2A histone family and a component of the nucleosome core. It becomes phosphorylated by kinases such as ATM and ATR in the PI3K pathway. Phosphorylated γ-H2AX marks the initiation of DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair by recruiting DNA repair proteins.
γ-H2AX foci form rapidly in response to DSBs induced by ionizing radiation or cytotoxic agents, serving as a biomarker for DNA damage. Visualization of γ-H2AX enables assessment of DNA damage, repair activity, and genomic stability.
This antibody is useful for detecting DNA damage caused by chemical, environmental, or physical stressors.
