Product Specific Information
Description:
The HIP8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD41 molecule (integrin alpha IIb, platelet GPIIb). CD41 associates with integrin beta3 (CD61) and is expressed by megakaryocytes and platelets. The CD41/CD61 complex acts as a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, vitronectin, and thrombospondin, mediating platelet aggregation. HIP8 blocks platelet aggregation.
Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of human platelets. Use at 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test. One test = amount of antibody to stain a cell sample in 100 µL volume. Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Light Sensitivity:
This tandem dye is sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect from light.
Fixation:
Samples can be stored in:
- IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49)
- 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-54)
for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark with minimal impact on brightness and compensation. Clone-specific performance should be determined empirically.

Target Information
CD41 (platelet glycoprotein IIb, ITGA2B):
Composed of two subunits (α: 120 kDa, β: 23 kDa) that interact with CD61 in the presence of calcium to form a functional receptor. Involved in platelet aggregation and adhesion via binding to von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin, and vitronectin. Expressed mainly on megakaryocyte-platelet lineage and during early hematopoietic differentiation.
Associated diseases include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 bleeding disorder.
