Target Information
Processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) by alpha- and beta-secretase is a key regulatory event in the generation of amyloid beta peptide (Abeta), which plays a major role in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
TMEM59, a Golgi-localized protein, modulates O-glycosylation and complex N-glycosylation steps during Golgi maturation of several proteins such as APP, BACE1, SEAP, and PRNP. It inhibits APP transport and shedding.
