Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a family of peroxidases involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prxs include six members categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx types. Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the other five 2-Cys Prxs exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as reducing systems. Mammalian Prxs (20–30 kDa) show diverse subcellular localization: Prx I, II, VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secreted form; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
