Members of this G protein family are characterized by the presence of conserved SNF2 domain, a helicase-like region. They also have ATPase activity and play a significant role in chromatin remodeling regulation. Although SNF2L1 shows ubiquitous expression, its active form is expressed in neurons, suggesting a role in neurite outgrowth and neuronal physiology.
