Alpha2-HS glycoprotein (AHSG), also known as Fetuin A, is a serum glycoprotein synthesized by hepatocytes. It consists of two polypeptide chains derived from a single mRNA proprotein. AHSG is involved in endocytosis, brain development, and bone tissue formation. It is commonly present in the cortical plate of the immature cerebral cortex and bone marrow hemopoietic matrix, suggesting a role in tissue development, though its exact significance remains unclear.
