Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the DEAD-box protein family, characterized by the conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif and ATP-dependent RNA helicase activity. It exhibits RNA-independent ATPase activity, stimulated by both RNA and DNA.
This protein functions in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, contributing to transcriptional regulation, mRNP assembly, pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA export, translation, cellular signaling, and viral replication.
Misregulation of this gene has been linked to tumorigenesis. A paralog exists on the Y chromosome, and pseudogenes with similarity are present on chromosome 4 and the X chromosome. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants.
