The LGALS9 gene encodes an S-type lectin overexpressed in Hodgkin’s disease tissue, potentially involved in interactions between H and RS cells and surrounding cells, contributing to disease pathogenesis and immunodeficiency.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene.
