Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and is located on chromosome 11 in humans. NF-kB p65, also known as RelA, belongs to the Rel family of proteins and is one of the two subunits of NF-kB (Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells). It heterodimerizes with other subunits such as p50 or p52.
Upon TNF-alpha binding to its receptor, IKK is phosphorylated and subsequently phosphorylates IκB, leading to proteasomal degradation of IκB. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcription of the immunoglobulin kappa (κ) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
