Target Information
Neurogenin 1 (NeuroG1) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor involved in cell fate determination during development. It plays dual roles in cell-fate specification—promoting neurogenesis while inhibiting the differentiation of neural stem cells into astrocytes. NeuroG1 acts as a transcriptional activator to promote neurogenesis and inhibits astrocyte differentiation by sequestering the CREB-binding protein transcription complex and suppressing STAT transcription factors essential for gliogenesis.
