Background
Dual specificity phosphatase 19 (DUSP19) is a member of the dual-specificity phosphatase (DUSP) family, which can dephosphorylate both tyrosine and serine/threonine residues. These enzymes play critical roles in modulating cellular signaling pathways. DUSP19 contains a modified catalytic domain where the last serine is replaced by alanine and lacks the N-terminal CH2 domain found in the MKP (mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase) class of DUSPs.
