Aquaporin-8은 인간의 AQP8 유전자에 의해 발현되는 단백질로, 물 통로 역할을 하는 막단백질입니다. Aquaporins는 주요 내재성 단백질(MIP 또는 AQP0)과 관련된 작은 막단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. Aquaporin 8 mRNA는 췌장과 대장에서 발현되며, 수분에 특이적인 통로를 형성하고 수은에 민감합니다. 글리세롤이나 요소에는 투과하지 않으며, 췌장과 대장에서만 발현됩니다.
