Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 229–250 of Mouse Forkhead Box Protein 3 (FOXP3).
Sequence: AQCLLQREVVQSLEQQLELEKE
The peptide was post-synthetically modified for optimal antigenicity before coupling to a carrier protein.

Target Information

FOXP3 (Forkhead box protein 3) is a transcriptional regulator belonging to the forkhead/winged-helix family, essential for immune homeostasis.
It is highly expressed in CD25⁺ CD4⁺ regulatory T cells, weakly in CD4⁺/CD25⁻ cells, and absent in CD4⁻/CD8⁺ T cells.
FOXP3 functions as a master regulatory gene and serves as a specific marker for regulatory T cells.
Mutations in FOXP3 cause scurfy phenotype in mice and contribute to IPEX syndrome (immune dysfunction, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked syndrome) in humans.
Expression of FOXP3 in human breast and colon cancer cells is regulated by p53 in response to DNA damage.
