Product Specific Information

  • This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.
  • This antibody specifically recognizes Influenza A H1N1 (A/Puerto Rico/8/34) Hemagglutinin/HA.

Target Information

Influenza A virus is a major public health concern, causing over 30,000 deaths annually in the USA.
In 2009, a novel swine-origin Influenza A (H1N1) virus emerged, spreading globally and leading to a pandemic declaration by WHO on June 11, 2009.

Influenza A virus possesses one of sixteen Hemagglutinin (HA) and one of nine Neuraminidase (NA) surface proteins.

  • HA mediates viral attachment.
  • NA facilitates viral release.

These proteins trigger immune responses that prevent infection or reduce viral replication.
The 2009 H1N1 strain combines human, swine, and avian influenza gene segments with additional Eurasian pig H3N2 genes of human origin, resulting in unique antigenic properties and limited pre-existing human immunity.
