Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a homodimeric enzyme (86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms essential for its catalytic activity. It functions optimally at alkaline pH and is found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. ALP plays a role in liver metabolism and skeletal development. In bacteria, it provides inorganic phosphate, and in yeast, it is used for studying membrane protein sorting.
