MKK7는 MAP kinase family에 속하는 이중 특이성 단백질 키나아제로, MAPK8/JNK1 및 MAPK9/JNK2를 활성화합니다. 또한 MAP3K1/MEKK1, MAP3K2/MEKK2, MAP3K3/MEKK5, MAP4K2/GCK 등에 의해 인산화 및 활성화됩니다. 염증성 사이토카인과 환경적 스트레스에 대한 세포 반응 신호전달에 관여하며, 여러 스플라이스 변이체가 존재합니다.
